Stand-alone // YA // Social Thriller
We Were Liars came out in 2014 when I was in college. My dad and sister both read it and teamed up to buy me a copy, and so it has been sitting on my shelf ever since. Read it in one sitting, they said. Don’t read anything about it, just read it from start to finish, they said. So I did. I sat down to just pick it up and then proceeded to shirk all responsibilities and read it all in one sitting.
And so I encourage you to do the same. It’s summer! The perfect time for a book set in summer. Read it in one sitting. Don’t read anything about it, just pick it up.
I’ll just tell you this, this book is full of tight friendships, questions about what it is to love, looking back on years of good memories in a familiar place you grew up in. It’s atmospheric and addicting, and you won’t want to put it down. It will break your heart and fill you with hope, and I hope you bawl your eyes out just like me.
